In the sky
What you’ll see.
Nothing is visible at new moon, because the moon travels close to the sun and turns its dark side toward Earth. For the northern hemisphere, this is one of the best times of year to catch a very young crescent: around the March equinox the moon’s evening path stands steeply above the western horizon, so a crescent a day or two old climbs clear of the twilight. In the southern hemisphere that angle is shallow in autumn and the crescent hugs the horizon, so give it an extra evening. The dark nights in between suit stargazing everywhere.
The next full moon is the Worm Moon on March 22.
Astrology
New moon in Pisces: what it means.
In astrology, the new moon in Pisces is the last new moon of the zodiac year. Pisces is the final sign of the wheel: dreamy, intuitive and tuned in to what moves beneath the surface. Tradition treats this as a time for soft intentions rather than hard targets, where a direction or a feeling is enough. Arriving about four weeks before the new moon in Aries, often called the astrological new year, this cycle suits closing chapters, letting go of what you no longer need and making room. Think of it as clearing out an attic before a renovation: invisible work that makes everything afterward easier.
Rituals
Three new moon rituals.
- Take a fifteen-minute daydream Sit somewhere comfortable with your phone in another room and close your eyes. Let your thoughts wander for fifteen minutes, then write down the first image or idea that stayed with you.
- Keep one quiet evening Plan one evening this week with no screens and nothing on the schedule. In the astrological tradition, Pisces does its best work in open, unhurried space.
- Choose an image instead of words Pick one photo, drawing or object that stands for what you want to grow in the months ahead. Give it a visible place at home where you pass it every day.

What does the new moon in Pisces mean?
In astrology, the March 2027 new moon in Pisces is traditionally connected with intuition, imagination, rest and letting go. Is the March 2027 new moon linked to the end of Ramadan?
Yes. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, and the Islamic month that follows it starts with the sighting of the thin crescent after the March 8 new moon. That sighting marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr, so the exact date depends on local moon sighting and can differ by country.
